The Assistant Inspector General of Police; Zone 13, DanMalam Mohammed Psc,Fdc has hailed the protesters across the Zone for remaining peaceful while going about with their protest.
The AIG also stated that Police Officers within the zone has exhibited professionalism while managing the protesters and urge them to remain committed to their professional code of conduct and also carry out the directives from the Inspector-General of Police as it relates to the ongoing protest.
The AIG stated that The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, NPM, mni had earlier warned Police officers and their commanders against the use of force on peaceful protesters and went on to reiterate that citizens have fundamental human rights of freedom, expression, assembly and movement which must be protected by the Police.
AIG therefore urged Commissioners of Police within the zone to ensure that officers within their Command, remain focused.
He appeal to protesters to remain peaceful and guard against infiltration by criminal elements, adding that in as much as they have right to protest, they should not block highways so as not to infringe on rights of other members of the public.
AIG went further to assure those protesting that the Police Leadership have heard their voice and is committed to addressing all the issues raised by protesters.
You may recall that The IGP has consistantly assured citizens of his commitment to bequeath to Nigerians, a reformed Police Force that is accountable, responsible and ever ready to defend and uphold the rights of the citizens while discharging its duties of keeping the people safe and secure.
He also enjoin the citizens not to allow the misconduct by a few personnel of the Force to negatively impact on their belief, confidence and trust in the police.
